It was quite a testament to human creativity seeing the many different types of garden bars being erected over lockdown.
With pubs & bars being closed due to the pandemic, many of us took it into our own hands to construct a more pub/bar-like setting in our gardens whilst we were locked out of our own regular drinking establishments. Us British will always find a way to get a pint.
From Tiki-bars to like for like reconstructions of the proper british boozer, our gardens have played host to some inspired displays of booze-inspired creativity.
People are clearly planning on using these new garden bars beyond lockdown. The sheer quality of the construction of these bars denotes a permanence but also the decor (flat screen TVs, vintage football shirts, signed memorabilia, beer pumps).
Even when we get back to some kind of normality I think we will be spending more time over our friend’s places with all the efforts gone into making these bars. Also, I think people are dubious about social distancing measures in pubs and what comes with them (we all remember the substantial meal debacle).
With all the effort gone into these bars and all the expense spent in decorating them with gadgets and expensive decorative pieces, we’d like to ask, is your garden bar secure enough?
The first question is, is your garden secure enough? Can intruders get in easily? This is going to be your first line of defence. Are all gates locked? Are walls and gates high enough? Are they durable?
If you can lock up your bar, is your lock good enough? Could it be easily picked or cut? Is it secured by design?
Think of that 55inch UHD flat screen TV you and the lads plan on watching the big game on going missing, or the rare sentimental 1986 home shirt you wore as a kid being stolen.
Locks aren’t the only consideration when securing your garden bar. Intruder alarms, cctv, security lighting, and perimeter protection are also other means of securing your garden bar but also in turn further securing your home and surrounding perimeter when installed.
