Summer is here, and even though it can get hot in the UK sometimes, you’re more likely to find the sun holiday you need on a short journey abroad. If you’re planning a summer vacation away from home, there are a few tips you can do to make sure your home is safe while you’re gone.
Ask a friend to watch your house
One thing you could do is ask close family and friends to either house sit for you while you’re gone or to check the mail, water the plants, and make the house look as busy as possible while you’re gone.
Active Appearance
If you always leave the front blinds open when you live there, keep doing that when you are away. If someone might be looking to see if anyone is home, it is a good idea to move among rooms in the front and the back. Our fake TV turns on when it gets dark, making it look like there is a working TV set hidden behind the blinds or curtains.
Upgrade Your Alarm System
Lastly, before a summer vacation where you’ll be gone for a week or two, take the time to check your home security systems, along with the strength of all doors and windows, locks, and your current alarm system.
When you go on vacation, the last thing you want to do is worry about your home. Set up strict rules for checking your home before you leave, and if you need to, improve alarm systems and other home security measures.
